Corazon de Rosa

In this folk retrato, La Virgen de Guadalupe holds a sacred heart in her hands, and a vine grows from the heart to surround her face with leaves and roses. She stands barefoot on a deep purple crescent moon, atop a green prickly pear cactus. La Virgen wears a simple blue cape with white stars, and a red dress with abstract branch design in light olive green. In place of her aura, she stands against a sunset sky of flaming apricot and goldleaf. The evening sky border grades from deep cobalt on top to royal blue at the bottom. Acrylic on wood, 2003.

Virgen del eucalipto
